Henderson 4-H Clubs Install Officers in Joint Meeting

The Henderson Hornets and Ambitigus Andres held a joint meeting on October 26 at Henderson. Officers installed included Rick Morris as president, Charles Paul as vice president, Mike Bec as secretary, Denny Botieau as historian, with boosters and Ambitiors serving guests.

Birthday Party for Debbie Bolton Seven Years Old

Debbie Bolton turned seven on Monday and her birthday party followed with Mrs Bolton hosting guests Mary Kudron Diane Fleming Helen Brown Cora Lee Brora Claudis Johnson Mary Jo and Barbara Bolton for a birthday afternoon. The celebration featured cake ice cream and decorations. Parents Mr and Mrs Car Bolton Mr and Mrs Earl Clark and Mrs Eula Stephens were among attendees. Additional notes mention relatives visiting and plans for Federated clubs meetings and winter travel to Florida and Tampa for the Grand Chapter of Eastern Star.

Shooks Buys P. D. Building in Town

LeRoy Shook purchased the building housing the Cafe and post office from Mrs. Agnes Workman. A baby girl named Patricia Jean was born Oct 26 in Edmundson hospital Council Bluffs to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Friswold. Local residents Harvey Frink and Jim Winchester added home improvements and guests noted at Mia Harves Frink’s coffee. Danny Fickel of Silver Springs Md visited Nellie Ficker this past week.

Mills County teachers meet at Chantry School

Mrs. Miley Schmidt correspondent notes attending the Mills County teachers meeting at Chantry School on Monday. Hamburg visitors included Mrs. Tom Kingery Mrs. Elmer Haney and Mrs. Jock Haney. The group traveled with the Kingery and Haney families and other local residents to Sidney and Glenwood with various relatives. Frank Chamberlain becomes the first Mt Vernon farmer to have his torn picked and cribbed.

Saturday afternoon the birthday club met with Mrs. Leonard Parker to celebrate a birthday. Attendees included Mrs. Harry Evans Mrs. Frank Chamberlain Mrs. Perle Royston Mrs. Corte Stewart with guests Joyce Stewart and Mary Anna Parker. Visitors enjoyed gifts and a lunch of cookies ice cream and coffee.

Sunday birthday celebrations, family visits, and a surprise anniversary noted across Glenwood. Mrs. Wilson celebrated at Edna's Cafe with relatives from Glenwood and Red Jak. Norman Sinner and neighbors hosted birthday ice cream and cakes. Ottumwa visitors, a Friday slumber party, and a rainy day with harvests paused round out the weekend social scene. Book Review at Wesley WSCS Meeting Nov 9

The Wesley WSCS will hold its first meeting of the month on November 9 at 2 p.m. at the church. Mrs and Mr Don Godfry and family attended the Harvest Home potluck and reunion at the Silver City Methodist church on Sunday. Des Moines delegation from Mills County on state resolutions committee was represented by Don Parker Thursday and Friday. Mrs Jay Winslow and Mrs Lynn Parker joined sister-in-law Mrs Cliff Winstow at an Oakland area Hawaiian themed supper. Henry Washburn joined Mr and Mrs Otha Wearin in Kearney to attend the funeral of their cousin's husband, W H Lippitt, former Edwy Wearin. Wesley WSCS invited to Glenwood WSCS guest day Nov 9 with a missionary nurse from India as speaker at 2 pm. Mrs Ben Wilson, Mrs Clifford Allely and Mrs Marion Wilson attended Carson Methodist guest day Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Lola Redman of Avoca and daughter Louise Thomas visited Mrs Geo Parker Thursday afternoon.
