Emerson high school prepares Friday evening commencement exercises for Ida Belle Evans and seniors receiving diplomas. A. Donald Grayhill will announce scholarships. various local residents and church leaders attend and participate in services and graveside rites.
Emerson Unit of the Republican Women of Iowa hosts Mrs Frances Harmen for a Monday May 7 gathering at 7 30 pm with a guest speaker and attendance urged. The program lists Emerson Baptist Church Rev Richard Person pastor and Edward Greenwood superintendent with morning worship and Sunday School details, plus memorial service and choir plans at various churches.
Emerson School honors seniors Covabslietorians and Pusalne Tatoriat-Gill for commencement. Carolyn Johnson and Cordett Arnold are among those recognized, as faculty note completion of cordsl studies and vocal music. Local events include visits from Lincolns and Neetles, with community members attending services and funerals in nearby towns.
Emerson eighth grade staged Teen Magic in the high school auditorium on May 20 with cast members Kenneth Twaddie Carol Hascall Christine Durbin Jerry Lemons Linda Williams Mary Gillespie Rozella Elkins and Rodney Carnagey. Diplomas were presented by Supt. D R Davis to Rodney Carnagey Christine Durbin Rozelle Elkins Mary Gillespie Carol Trasecall Jerry Lemons Kenneth Twaddle and Linda Williams. The Rev F A Smith delivered the benediction.
Local families hosted relatives and friends from Omaha Red Oak and California. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Frank Sawyers Mrs Estella Sawyers and the Sawyers group at Hillsdale school house where church rebuilding was voted. Others visited from Hayes Kansas Davenport Wilmington and Mountain View reflecting a busy social week.
Memorial services will be held in the park here next Thursday at 10 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Shook returned home Monday from Denver Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Huntsman and daughter and Mrs. Lida Moore were Sunday guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Moore at Council Bluffs. Ray Allen and son Bruce of Des Moines visited in the home at Mrs. Erma Allen Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Plumb have rented the home of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Hughes. Mr. Plumb is employed at the Lakin Implement Company here and Mrs. Plumb will work at the office of Dr. M. E. Moody.
