A clean administration of Mal yert's post office was virtually assured Tuesday when the Community Building board had a new lavatory installed for the convenience of postal employees. Not connected with the impending change of post masters, the lavatory was required when the post office department renewed its lease this year.
Judge John Tinley of Council Bluffs will give the Decoration Day address in Malvern during patriotic services Saturday in the Community building at 2 p.m. The event, conducted by the American Legion, will honor veterans and scene of local remembrance.
The Pete Kuhl Orchestra is scheduled to perform at a public dance on Tuesday at Pasiday Ave Higbie. Bele Kat and orchestra will provide entertainment while Wand Slonhawer and Wil Aistrepe are expected to attend.
Plans for the opening of Malvern's Rohner Municipal pool are under Park Board direction with Decora tion Day events. Edo Wearin will manage and Mix Heats will assist as lifeguard with Gretchen Gidley as attendant. Pool rates will stay low and group tickets offered. The facility will use last season's chlorination system and improved water connections to ensure plenty of fresh water. The Junior Chamber of Commerce sponsors several swimming meets and promotional stunts for the season.
The Gassers beat Stanton 2 to 0 on the Stanton diamond as Dougherty limited Stanton to three hits and struck out six while Bergren allowed six hits and eight strikeouts. A ninth inning Stanton rally was halted by a neat double play sealing the win. Stanton plans a rematch at Malvern next Sunday at 3 p.m.
Softball enthusiasts organize a county league with eight teams eight from Glenwood and Malvern. Pace of Malvern is elected president with Dr D W Harman of Glenwood as vice president Frank Austin of Malvern serves as secretary treasurer. Games begin June 1 at 8 p m with a double round robin schedule under Amateur Softball Association rules and national sanctions. Nonuniform players face ten day suspensions.

Malvern's Civil War veteran M Taylor Davis received an invitation to the Grant Army of the Republic annual encampment at Des Moines on June 7. The invitation included a round trip ticket for transportation to the event.

County workmen started on a road near Pacific Junction toward the gas compressor spur between Hastings and Emert. Crews also began shaping the south end of county road J rising south of Malvern and crossing the new Nishna Latona bridge.
