Presbyterian Ladies Honor Mrs Shore At Shower
A stork shower for Mrs Richard Shore was hosted by Presbyterian ladies at Mrs Charles Costello’s home on May 16. Guests played games, favors were won by Mrs Ellis Lefgren and Mrs Elton Clay, and a Mother's Day program featured readings and solos. Joanna received a bathinette and gifts from family, with a linen-dressed table and daisy centerpiece. Refreshments included lime Bavarian jelly and coffee served by Joanna’s mother.

Kobbe Seaton united in marriage at Carroll First Methodist Church in a Sunday ceremony at three o clock. The couple are Howard B Kobbe and Daniel Seaton of Carroll. Rev C Hugo Orf officiated with organist Catherine Mietas and soloist Mary Morrison. Attendants included Sharon Kolbe and Kay Nolin as bridesmaids, Jack Rose best man, Lanny Seaton and Dick Wadson ushers. The bride, a Oelwein High School graduate, will attend Iowa State College. groom a Carroll High School and University of Iowa alum. They will reside in Janesville Wisconsin where he serves in Sears Roebuck executive reserve group. Reception followed in church parlors. The Malvern Garden Club met at the Community Building for its May session with talks by Mrs. Herman Folkerts on proving a topic and Mrs Joe Haden on treating seed. Officers chosen for next year are Mrs Vaughn Hoover president Mrs Joe Waden vice president Mrs Pan Seeger secretary and treasurer. A print exchange occurred and plans for the coming year discussed. Absentee ballots addressed to the county auditor are available at auditor offices for eligible voters. Meeting adjourned with a board meeting planned for September 11.
