May Breakfast Hosted by CWF for 70 Attendees

The CWF hosted its annual May breakfast with about seventy members and guests. Candles lit the tables as President Mrs. Melva Christoffer sen welcomed attendees and the napkin printed grace was recited. Bevis Sowers led a program on Memories, with Social Action committee members listed.

Mother's Day Visits and Celebrations Across Counties

Sunday gatherings marked two 48th wedding anniversaries and multiple visits across Bellevue Red Oak and Pacific Junction. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Ira Bell, Mr and Mrs Pred Huntsman, Mrs Huntsman, Mr and Mrs Dale Bell, Mr and Mrs Jack Hunter, and families from Emerson Hamburg and Hooper Nebraska. A trip in Omaha saw Verne Alberts and Hillsdale pupils attend Mary Poppins at the State Theater. Several extended families shared time in Red Oak and Bellevue plus Army duty departures from Eppley Field Omaha for Europe.

Mrs Swanson Hosts Our Thursday Out Club Event

The Our Thursday Out Club of Tabor met Thursday afternoon in Malvern with 12 ladies and two children. Talks on the Amana Colonies extension trip were given by Mrs. Betty Dilts and Mrs. Irene Benedict. Ice cream sodas coffee and cookies were served.

Hastings Federated Women’s Club met May 7 at the church with Acisa Lookabill delivering a spiritual thought and Janie Menchell presiding. Otha D Wearin spoke from his book I Remember Hastings, sharing accounts as members paid dues and heard music from Nishina Valley High School students. The next gathering is June 4 at the Gold Crown Inn Red Oak with reservations to Lola Wearin or Ida Pierce.

Planters worked to plant corn and soybeans. Heavy rain 1.05 inches Saturday morning. Plowing nearly finished. early corn should emerge.

Visit Highlights Family Gathering at Findley Home

A telephone report notes Ira Findley of Oregon spoke with relatives. The day featured several grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoying time together. Mrs Findley was a supper guest Friday at the Maryin Findley residence.
