Mills county Oats Favorable Under Seed Program Says McCain

Mills county farmers may still join the 1961 seed grain program even if oats are seeded. H A McCain says oats on diverted land may be left unharvested to meet conservation requirements, with excess oats harvestable. He notes most corn and grain sorghum producers will join, about 860 farms signed, grazing rules begin June 1.

Services For Hillsdale Pastor Held at Sidney

Rev. Hugh Jackson longtime Hillsdale Church pastor died at Methodist Hospital in Omaha after weeks of illness. Funeral held at Crawtor Funeral Chapel Sidney with family and friends in attendance. Local families hosted and visited in Glenwood and Hillsdale with meals, devotions, and a film presentation by Rev. Waterman. A heavy rain brought a brief flood and hail, delaying planting, followed by Hillsdale Church board discussions on finances and corn land farming. The board adjourned to June 5.
