Social Scene Bride-to-Be Diane Allensworth Engaged

Diane Allensworth daughter of Dale Allensworth of Malvern will wed John Dell of Atlantic on June 14 at First Presbyterian church Paullina Iowa. She is a University of Iowa graduate teaching in Glenwood Community Schools. Dell son of Donald and wife Paullina is a University of South Dakota graduate now with Prudential Insurance.

Engagement Told Nancy Weydert to Rex Bristow

Sheriff Spoke to FB Women in Mills County Meeting

Mills County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee met at the Malvern office with Sheriff Merle Brown of Glenwood as guest speaker addressing the local drug problem and fielding questions. Devotions were given, remarks covered Beef Month and Rural-Urban Banquet, and 1,002 paid memberships were noted since 1918. Refreshments followed.

Carol Benscoter and Don Stanley united in marriage on April 28 at the United Methodist church in Malvern. Rev. Richard Viney officiated at 4 p.m. Attending were sister of the bride Mrs. Duane Jurgens and brother of the groom Brooks Stanley. Immediate family members were present. the Stanleys reside in Malvern.

Fellowship Day Services Were Well Attended

A May Fellowship Day gathering drew a nice crowd of women from many county churches to Glenwood Congregational church. Mills County Church Women United sponsored the event with the theme Open to Live Fully. Sheriff Merle Brown spoke on Women and the Prison System, followed by a Q&A and closing prayer.

Bethany Home Dedication Set

Plans for the dedication of the Bethany Lutheran Retirement Home in Council Bluffs are finalized. A dedicatory service is set for 2 pm on June 1. St. John's Lutheran Hastings is on the Planning Board with Edwin Leu and Creighton Miller. Local Lutheran groups will serve coffee and cookies after the service. St. John's will supply 720 cookies. Speakers will be announced later.

Directors Assn Meeting Highlights from April 30

The Southwest Iowa Activity Directors Association met at the Nishna Cottage with 24 members attending. Speaker Miss Kathryn Teegarden, an occupational therapist with the State Department of Health, discussed Records Required of Activity Directors, detailing what to keep and why these records matter.

Outstanding Homemaker of 1975 Honored at Malvern Luncheon

Mrs Merrill Sowers Emer son was named Outstanding Homemaker of 1975 by the Extension Home Economics Committee at a Homemaker Luncheon in Malvern on April 30. She was praised for church work youth and elderly care and her homemaking. The event featured 18 women and 9 children modeling garments under the theme Fashions For You By You with 125 attendees.

A May morning breakfast sponsored by UMW was held May 1 at 9 a.m. at the church. Hostesses were Mrs. Galen Hunt, Mrs. Raburn Benton, Mrs. Richard Bass, and Mrs. Charles Ellison. The business meeting followed.

School of Light Mission Coed Family Event at Mt Vernon

Eight youths from The School of Light in Minneapolis attend a women and youth mission event at Cornell College Mt Vernon June 26 to 29. Theme Me a Prophet. Church funds travel and asks attendees to wear a country costume. Mrs Gordon Mulholland leads Bible School June 9 to 13 with cookies needed.

Plan Tour For Tulip Festival In Orange City IA
