Wildcats Triumph: Hamburg Nips NV for Class A Crown
Hamburg Wildcats defeated coach Bill Biernbaum's NV Blackhawks 69 to 54 in Class A sectional play at Farragut last Thursday to claim the title. Sophomore Charlie Zanker scored 18 and grabbed 11 boards for Hamburg, while Terry Smith and Rick Mounts led Valley with 27 by halftime as the Cats pulled away in the second half. The Hawks were hampered by off nights from All-Conference standout Dave Bristow and regular scorers Rick Allensworth and Haack, leaving Hamburg in control despite a sluggish closer to the season.
