Mrs Harold Gay was honored at a Saturday bridal shower hosted by her parents in Malvern with guests from Hastings Glenwood and Omaha. The Malvern Book Study club plans a Feb 29 meeting with program by Mrs Hope Beattie. Senior Citizens held a February birthday party for five members in the Community building with 38 attending. A drug education program for Boy Scouts called Operation Reach was attended by Mark Knight and Jay Robbins at the College of St Marys in Omaha.

Special Zone Meeting For IOOF Brothers
A special zone meeting of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows was held at Union Lodge No. 176 in Red Oak on February 18. About 75 IOOF members from across the state attended. Two degrees, the Initiatory and First Degree, were conferred by attending grand officers. Glenwood Lodge No. 97 demonstrated the draping charter for mourning. Hastings Lodge No. 397 had one candidate for Initiatory and First Degree, Terry Harris. Attending from Hastings were Don Jones Noble Grand, Jim and Joe Irvin, and Delmar McConkey Left Support Vice Grand. Three candidates and 14 members from Glenwood lodge attended.
