Bicentennial Tea Held by Malvern UMW at Church
Malvern UMW met at the Church on June 3 for a Bicentennial tea at 2 p.m. Hostesses were Helen Parker Clara Stevens and Jessie Wearin. The basement and tea table were decorated red white and blue. Jessie Wearin led the meeting with singing and Show and Tell items. Ruth Viney led devotions Iva Scott gave a lesson and sang Precious Memories. Genevieve De Witt presented a love gift to Ruth Viney from the UMW and wished the family well in their new home.

Mills County American Legion Auxiliary held its annual birthday party Thursday June 10 at Clarinda State Hospital. Attendees from Emerson Malvern Hamburg and Clarinda units assisted with refreshments, decorations, and cupcakes. Patients received cigarettes candy coffee and birthday presents funded by five county auxiliaries. guests also visited Mrs. Shonka with greetings to county friends.

Several clothing items from the Mills County Historical Museum were modeled in a Bicentennial style show at Glenwood last Wednesday. The Funday Saturday at Glenwood Lake Park drew many adults and children, with larger crowds for Sunday tours. Mrs. Dixie Benton arranged a Silver Cloud 4H club visit for Monday.

Danish Exchange Student Graduates From Nishna Valley
Anne Mogersen a 17 year old from Bornholm Denmark graduates from Nishna Valley Community High this May as an exchange student living with the Arne Miller family in the United States. She studied speech English history art and homemaking and took part in mixed chorus Sweet Teens NHS and the senior play. Her ICX parents were Ann and Anne Miller and she plans to attend college in the future.
