Weed control with summer fallow and cover crop method

Iowa State extension plant pathologist Porter recommends immediate weed control after harvest to combat creeping jenny. Start with plowing and two week cultivations, then plant a winter cover crop, pasturing briefly if possible, followed by another fallow period. Three years of the cycle aims to eradicate heavy bindweed infestations. Also notes on cultivation methods, including duckfoot cultivators and improvised tools, plus spottier references to a safe cracking incident and a window damage at Woolworth store.
