Decoration Day Observed with Services and Honors
A Decoration Day program in the park featured Rev Lyman Smith giving the invocation and benediction, with Ho ward Lee Shook reading General Logans Orders and Miss Kathryn Graygon performing In Flanders Field. Judy Faseall and Dortha Sellers sang, while Junior Auxiliary and Boy Scouts placed wreaths at the monument and the American Legion Firing Squad saluted with Taps. Darwin Hascall served as master of ceremonies for the event in Emerson and Hastings. Emory aviation sailor Kent Von Fecht, son of Mr and Mrs Martin Von Fecht of Emerson, was promoted to Aviation Electronics Technician third class and stationed at Brunswick Georgia.
