W M Williams Grand 82nd Birthday Celebrations

W M Williams turned 82 on July 24 and was feted at a surprise party at his home with family bringing ice cream and cake. Attendees included the Williams families of John W H Williams SI E Atteberry Glen Frank and Paul Wilson and Mrs Lottie Van Orsdell plus Chris Kruse Jack Williams A G Williams Jerry Van Seyoc Dick Hunt George Williams and Don Spelman families from Silver City Griswold and Red Oak. A second surprise gathering followed at Arnold Williams home in Griswold with George Williams Glen Franke Billy Unt W H Williams H E Atteberry Dick Ward Vunt Don Spelman Clarence Parsons Red Oak Vic Williams and Jim Emerson and the honoree and Mrs Williams and Darrell.

Honored at Mineola bridal shower for Knop and Scheel

Miss Cathy Knop of Malvern and Miss Jeannette Scheel of Liver City were guests at a Mineola parish hall shower hosted by Mrs. Earl Schoening and Mrs. Robert F. Kruse with co-hostesses. Prizes went to Mrs. LeVern Schoenine and Mrs. Douglas Scheel. Knop and Scheel are to wed in September at St. John’s Lutheran Mineola, with dates Sept. 6 and Sept. 25 respectively.

Auxiliary Met at Legion Hall with Fifteen Members

The American Legion Auxiliary met at the Legion hall on July with 15 members present. Mrs. Chris Kruse presided at the regular business meeting. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Shirley Hendrix and Mrs. Glen Robertson. August hostesses are Mrs. Agnes Voss and Mrs. Jack Burgoin. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Bunton of Caldwell Idaho and daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. William Houston, who attended a family reunion at Lake Manawa Country Club in Council Bluffs. Relatives from Silver City attended. New attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Art Burgoin, Mrs. Paul Flammant, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Goos and family. Alfred Brandt, Clifford Schoening, George Burgoin, Arthur Burgoin, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Goos also participated in the Farmers Co-Op tour to Kansas City. Mrs. George White and grandchildren Patty and Ronnie Allensworth of Omaha were guests of her uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mills. additional Sunday supper guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mills and Michael of Lincoln. Miss Ona and Grace McNay and Lennire Clapson of Glenwood were invited to a cookout at the Adolph Schultz home in Malvern Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Kruse hosted Sunday dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Frank and sons of Omaha. The Silver City Cemetery Association will meet with Mrs. Earl Maddocks Sr. on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Also visiting were Mr. and Mrs. Jin Johnson of Ames.

Achievement Day Plans at July 11 Club Meeting

Loyal Lassies and Loyal Lassies members met to discuss Achievement Day. Connie Lees hosted with 15 members present including two leaders and three guests. Exhibits were discussed and committees appointed. Demonstrations covered material lining and garment construction. Refreshments ended the meeting.
