Governor's Youth Opportunity Program Opens Mills County Jobs
The Governor's Youth Opportunity Program offers diverse summer work for Mills County youths aged 14 to 18. Thirty three youths are employed across Emerson, Glenwood, Malvern, Hastings and nearby sites with part time and full time hours, paid $1.50 per hour, funded by 20 percent local and 80 percent state and federal money.

4 H News Dog Project Meeting at Walconsie State Park
The 4 H Dog Project met at Walconsie State Park with a July 13 gathering at the Extension Office. Attendees brought lunches and dogs if wished, explored trails, and heard Julie Stevens present Tricks and Stunts. Visitor Carson Gann from Missouri joined the picnic and was enjoyed by all. Next meeting features Lisa Blank and Doug Bass on Grooming followed by obedience work led by Jr Leader Karen Stogdill.

Teen Club Home From Wisconsin Exchange Trip
Mills County 4 H Teen Club members spent July 13 18 visiting Wisconsin host families in Juneau Adams Waushara and Green Lake Counties. They learned about celery cranberry lettuce and dairy agriculture and enjoyed swimming parties bratwurst tastings and county gatherings. Next year Wisconsin 4 H'ers will visit Mills County.
