Spotlight on the Social Scene at Malvern Auxiliary Meeting

Malvern unit 520 of the American Legion Auxiliary met Feb 17 at the Malvern Village Lounge with officers and members present. Plans included a bake sale March 32 at Larrys Hardware, a March 13 memorial dinner, and preparations for the 7th District Conference May 7. Memorial services honored four chaplains and a district report noted Mills County quotas and attendance by local officials.

Malvern BPW Club Dinner Meeting and Shower

Malvern BPW Club met February 14 at 7 p.m. at the 34 Club for supper then moved to the Nishna Care Center for the business session. Twenty two members and one guest attended. Announced events include March 26 Boss' Breakfast and March 27 Spring District Meeting at Glenwood. Shelly Meyers performed a skit after business. A dessert was served and a baby shower for Ginny Conners and her daughter was held.

Two Mills Legionnaires At Des Moines Conference

The American Legion Commander and Adjutants Conference met in Des Moines at the Hotel Fort Des Moines with 445 registered attendees. National Commander Rogers attended but left for Kennebunk Maine after his wife fell ill. Saturday night banquet was interrupted by an unspecified incident as meetings and reports continued.

Legion and Auxiliary County Meeting at Mineola

Mills County American Legion and Auxiliary will hold their county meeting Sunday March 6 at 6 30 p m at the Mineola Legion Club. Bring a covered dish and your own table service Mineola will furnish tea or coffee. The February meeting was postponed Henderson will host the April meeting District Officers are invited and the 7th District Conference will be held in Dunlap in May with attendees urged to participate to bring back information to local posts and units.

Red Oak Guest Night Deadline Sets March Dinner Event

Ticket sales for the Red Oak Christian Women's Club annual guest night will close Saturday Feb 26. The event March 1 at 6 30 p m at the Holiday Inn features a flight theme and Vern Meek recounts building an airplane in his basement. Guest speaker Major Robert Linden from Offutt Base in Bellevue Nebraska. Patsy and Bob Norris will sing. No nursery provided.

Council Bluffs Opera Don Pasquale Opens NAN Series

Opera Omaha touring production Don Pasquale plays in Council Bluffs on March 6 as the first of a ten month NAN series. Sheri Greenawald stars in English, with $2.50 and $4.50 adult tickets and student rates. First National Banks and local banks handle sales. subsidies offer $2 off adult tickets for seniors 60 plus, limited to 200 seats.
