UMW Meeting Sets Earlier Time At Malvern Church

Twenty five members of the United Methodist Women met February 3 at Malvern Methodist Church. President Viola Jackson opened with a Valentine poem and prayer. Meeting time changes from 2 pm to 1 30 pm. Funds are sought for the Shelter Workshop at Glenwood to aid disabled teens and adults. Hostesses were Bonnie Anderson Clara Stevens and Alma Knop. Next meeting is March 3 at the church with the new time.

Tam Jones Bridal Shower Honoree at St John’s Lutheran

A dessert luncheon bridal shower for Tam Jones was held Sunday afternoon at St John’s Lutheran Church Hastings. Blue and peach decor featured a large blue heart with Tam’s photo. Guests answered questions about the groom and opened gifts. hostesses included Mrs Lenore Herty and Dorene Len with assistance from Mesdames Meteher Leu Debra Smith Evelyn Knup and Virginia Bowen. The event preceded Tam’s upcoming marriage to Robert L Scott on March at St John’s Lutheran church. A separate note: Book and Study Club meets Feb 22 at 8 p.m. at Mrs Clayton Hertz’s. Mrs Max Dashner will give the review.

Malvern Seers Host February Potluck Meeting

The Malvern Seers met at the Malvern Community Building on Feb 0 with 38 senior citizens present including residents from Malvern Care Center and Nishna Cottage and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rhede of Tabor. Dorothy Churchman led a short business session on volunteer drivers for the Road Runner bus and a $7.50 supply bill by Churchman was approved. Alma Knop moved adjournment as cards and bingo followed. a Valentine birthday party for February birthdays was held Feb 14 with 22 members present.

Youngsters Need A Good Exercise Push

Barbara Buffington from Mills County Extension urges parents to push regular vigorous activity for grade school children. She notes many districts cut physical education and bused or driven kids reduce incidental exercise. Parents can promote exercise with simple daily activities and structured play.

Three Nuts Musical Group Visits Nishna Care Center

Nishna Care Center welcomed the Three Nuts on Wednesday with a School Dare skit and a dance. Eight residents attended the Senior Citizens potluck on Thursday, and a Valentine’s party was held Saturday. Verner Anderson visited Red Oak, Gertrude Murphy is hospitalized in Red Oak, and the Malvern Brownies delivered valentines Monday. Bert Wilcox visited Glenwood over the weekend.

Nishna Cottage Visitors and Spring Fiddlers Return

Visitors were many last week at Nishna Cottage with Faye Louden and Frances Dow visiting Don Harris. Glenwood guests Mrs. Carroll Bloom and Mrs. Margaret Kahl and Viola Bichel from Mineola joined Arlo Bichel. Everett Underwood hosted daughters Sally and Eleanor, grandson and great granddaughter Patricia from Lincoln, Toby Campbell visited his mother Rose, and Doris Anderson called on Marie Eidge. A breath of spring greeted us during a trip to Nishna Care Center for the fiddlers. Friday night featured The Litterbug narrated by Ronald Reagan, The Magic Rainbow, and Dr Piper the Drummer Boy.
