A long list of weekend visits and birthday celebrations in Council Bluffs and surrounding towns. Friends and relatives, including the Wooten family and Jean Michels, gathered for Mrs. Wooten’s birthday and various family events. Numerous dinners, hospital news, travels, and community notices fill the social scene pages.
About 150 attendees gathered at the Community building for the Blue and Gold banquet honoring Scouting’s the Sith anniversary. Webelo badges and graduation certificates were presented to Larry Leu Jay Robbins Mark Shiveley and Stephen Blackburn. Kevin Anderson attended later.
Presbyterian Westminster Guild met at the home of Mrs Ralph Bow er Feb 9 with 10 present including three visitors. New president Mrs Chas Manson led the meeting. Treasurer reported and current bills allowed. Mission projects discussed and Buckhorn Children Center Buckhorn Ky chosen. Continued support for Mrs Galloway in The Sudan. A letter from Mrs Galloway urged mission help and suggested ideas. Voted to send a small education grant to a student in the Omdurman Area. Easter Breakfast planned for Mar 27 with a free will offering. Holy Week services to be hosted by the Presbyterian. Bible study on Philippians led by Mrs Carl Whitney. March hostesses named Mrs Joe Hansen and Mrs San Thy. Correspondence included two thank you notes. Colored slides shown by host with vitrene theme.
Allan Burdié treasurer and Louise Barber secretary led a ceremony as candles lit and Cubs formed a circle around the rou, giving the Cub Scout Promise for a very effective closing on an honored occasion.
