Silver City correspondent notes a springlike December as Santa visits, school programs, and class parties spark holiday cheer. Local families host gatherings for birthdays and anniversaries, with cake, ice cream, and games marking the season.
The Yule season brings many festivities with pre Christmas dinners. Clifford Boyer hosts the Loran Sr Jim Boyers while the Ralph Hansens share lunch with Donald and Scotty and a gift exchange. Bill Hansen of Tabor attends afloat with the Hansens. Ralph Skerritt hosts Clyde Whitesides and the George Whitesides family of Omaha along with Harry Whitesides and Ward Hunt. Albert Schoening hosts a Sunday dinner with LeVern Edwin Schoening of Ralston LeRoy Schoening and Clara Hammers of Glenwood. Jim Kruse and Kansas City guests join at Clint Frank home in Omaha. Harold Damewood and Ronnie enjoy dinner at Bernard Sullivan family home in Atlanta.
Mr and Mrs Gerald Jones hosted a pre birthday dinner for Julie whose birthday is on Christmas Eve. Attendees included the Herman Schroeders Kenton Roenfeldts and later supper guests the Schroeders and Willard Jones family of Mineola. On Monday Mrs Jones hosted another birthday party.
Evergreen club members held their annual pot luck dinner at Mrs. Helen Sanders home with ten ladies in attendance. New officers elected include Mrs. Chas Saar as president, Mrs. Helen Sawers as vice president, and Mrs. Libby Schoening as secretary. Gifts from secret pals were opened and new secret pals drawn. Bingo prizes went to several members and a door prize awarded to Mrs. Mary Mass. The January 21 meeting will be at Mrs. Eugene Buffingtons. A candlelight Christmas program at the Methodist Church followed by refreshments drew a good crowd.

Attendees included Mr and Mrs Ben Schmidt of McClelland Mrs Bertha Roenfeldt Mineola and Mr and Mrs Clyde Schoening. The LaVon Schoenings and sons and Roy Scheels also joined candlelight services at the Mineola church and a reception for Pastor and Mrs Schardt who plan to leave at year’s end.

Malvern Community School District minutes record December 14 1965 meeting with present Wortman Hays Newell Burgoin Washburn and details of bills salaries and withholdings. The board hires Dougher Frevert Ramsey Des Moines as architects for a proposed high school and approves Leipold salary increase to 340 monthly. Henry Washburn resigns effective December 15 1965 due to incompatible offices. Board adjourns with Byington secretary.
The Halph Skertitts called on Mrs. Rew Burgoin at the hospital Thursday. Mrs. George Ord is a patient at the Edmundson hospital where she was taken Friday for observation. Wins Phich Harry Taxto was the winner of the shotgun recently donated by the Silver City American Legion post.
