John Hall was named worshipful master of Silver Urn Masonic Lodge at its annual election meeting held last Thursday. Christmas Theme At Malvern UMW December Meeting

Twenty five members attended the Malvern United Methodist Women gathering at the church on December 2. Bill Gilbert led first grades in song while Charlotte Mart discussed the three Christmas symbols and the nativity accounts from Matthew and Luke. Jessie Wearin thanked members for her service as president.

Legion Auxiliary Invites Husbands to December Meeting

The Harry Hammons Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary will hold its December meeting at Mrs Max Blackburns home on Sunday December 14. This is not a potluck and spouses are invited. A gift exchange is planned and each member plus spouse should bring a gift valued over $1 marked for man woman or either. Potluck begins at p.m. Be on time. The Legion asks every member to write Senators urging retention of Veterans Affairs.

Christmas Party at Mills County Congregate Site

The Mills County Congregate Meal Site in Malvern will host its first Christmas dinner and gift exchange on Friday December 17 at 12 noon. All senior citizens invited for joy and fellowship. Reservations due December 16 by 4 pm at 624-8258. A dollar gift exchange will occur during the event.

Emerson Mills County Legion and Auxiliary Meeting Notes

Mills County American Legion and Auxiliary met at Emerson Community building May 30 with 13 members and 1 guest for a polluck dinner and meeting. Cmdr Leroy Johnson led the blessing, Sylvia Klonis opened at 7 4 PM, introducing officers. 7th Dist Cmdr Jack Kiley reported county membership quota and importance of a strong Legion, noted a 122 member shortfall in Mills County. Harold Neumann reported on the 7th District rank and a Corning workshop for non participants. Auxiliary officers presented membership and affairs updates. Cumberland Unit hosting details noted.

Delta Kappa Gamma Meet at Brick Inn in Malvern

Beta Beta Chapter held a special meeting at the Brick Inn in Tabor on December 1 at 7 p.m called by president Lois Whitson to vote on prospective members. Eighteen members attended. Malvern delegates included Cleta Salyers and Elva Hoover with Anne Fulton serving as Corresponding Secretary.

Reports Given At 7th Dist. Legion Workshop

At the 7th District Legion workshop held November 24 in Neola American Legion Hall, 38 Legion Auxiliary and Dept. and District Officers attended. Val Likens spoke on threats to Veterans Affairs and pensions, urging letters to Senators to preserve the Veterans Affairs Standing Committee. He noted pension adjustments via medical expenses reporting to the VA.

Sanitation Course Completion Report for Malvern Employee

Janice Frerichs of Nishna Cottage Malvern completed a 12 lesson correspondence home study course on sanitation. The Iowa State Department of Health runs the program to improve hospital and nursing home food quality.
