Henderson Social Groups Meet For Charity and Song

Mrs. J. E. Jewell hosted the Mothers club meeting with nine attendees. Members voted a $5 donation to the K.M.A. Christmas tree fund for Glenwood state school. Faye Shook led with the Lord's Prayer as entertainment and a Christmas grab bag highlighted the program.

Mrs Gerald Viner Hosts Henderson Library Club Meeting

Mrs Gerald Viner welcomed ten members and one guest, Mrs Kenneth Williams, to the Henderson library club. They planned a donation to the Glenwood state school Christmas tree fund and fruit baskets for shut ins, elected officers, and welcomed Mrs Virgil Morris as treasurer. The next meeting will be the Christmas party December 15 at Mrs Earl Boileau’s home.

Californian Buys Gillfillan Store at Henderson

Jerry Boldra of Englewood California bought the Gilfillan store and took possession December 1. Doughnuts and coffee were served at the store Thursday to honor Mr. Gillfillan who has been in business since 1921. The Legion held a supper Friday night with 35 attendees and a life membership card presented to Mr Gillfillan.

Social visits include Reynolds family and multiple local residents visiting relatives and friends. Community groups mention bazaar planning and a Christmas party at the Methodist church.

Mrs. Alicea Ricken Brown was honored at a Friday night church shower with games and a playful skit of the groom teaching the bride to drive. Guests included 30 attendees and out of town visitors from Hed Oak and Macedonia.

Speaker Tells of Work in India at Wesley WSCS Meet

The Woman's Society of Christian Service met at the church on November 29 with Rev. Schneck, a returned missionary, as guest speaker on India. A collection was taken for India. Hosts Hdna Plumb and Ruby Deitchler served. Ruby Godfry and Lora Mae Parker sang with Nellie Fickel on piano. The next meeting is December 13 with “Christmas in Story and Song” as theme. church chairmen for December are Mary and Marie Robbins.

Neva Siller Visits Family in Macedonia Ore

Mrs. Neva Siller of Rogeburg Oregon visits sisters Mrs Harold Wilson and Mrs Daisy Zimmerman and mother Mrs Minnie Harris in Macedonia. Supper guests include the Wilsons and Ben Wilson. Lynn Parker visits Darrel in Lincoln. Allen Harold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ruhl Harold, is wheelchair bound from polio and may need Iowa City hospital in January. Alfred Hummell and Malvern couple dine with Ray Lathrop. Don Parker and Ben Wilson help with CROP drive pickup. corn delivered to Hastings.

Rev Rowe Hosts Deer Supper at Wesley Chapel

About 60 people attended a Tuesday evening pot luck at Wesley Chapel with deer meat as the main dish. A deer encountered by Rev Howe near Robbins Bridge jumped into the river and was killed. Neighbors were invited to the feast after the meat was processed and slides from trips to South Dakota, Yellowstone, and the West were shown. Also notes on local residents Mrs Parle Kelley Elliott and Mrs Jay Winslow visiting patients.

Palmer Osler couple wed in Carson at Latter Day Saints Church

Mr and Mrs Allen Palmer announce the marriage of their daughter Linda Kay to Jerry Osler Saturday evening at the Latter Day Saints Church in Carson. A reception followed. The couple will reside in Council Bluffs.

Mrs Felt to Leave Red Oak Hospital for Spencer Visit

Mrs. R. V. Felt of Gravity wife of a former Wesley minister has been hospitalized for two weeks at Red Oak with an injured foot from a fall. She will be released this weekend and will accompany her son Wilbur to his home at Spencer.
