Emerson Women's Society of Christian Service reviewed a renovated church kitchen including painted walls fluorescent lighting new stoves sinks and floor coverings all completed by volunteers. An ice cream and cake social was held Thursday to raise funds for the project.

Mrs June Simmonds, Roger, Linda and Rita went to Council Bluffs Wednesday night for the Jennie Edmundson hospital nursing school graduation at Broadway Methodist Church. The American Legion Auxiliary met Friday Aug 10 at the Legion Hall with President Thelma Hastwood presiding. She read a poem in memory of Mrs Corena Birdsall. The group plans a festival float and a stand for the Fall Festival parade. New officers were installed by Evangeline Lang.

Committal Rites for Ora Snodgrass
Funeral services were held in Council Bluffs for Ora L. Snodgrass 72 who died August 6 of a heart attack. The Rev. Joe Henry led the service and burial took place in Emerson. Snodgrass, WWI veteran and retired barber, was a descendant of the Snodgrass and served as a Methodist church member and 100F lodge member. He is survived by wife Laura Ballain, sons Douglas Snodgrass and Harold Kellenbarger, Levon Sayce, Ralph, three stepdaughters and three grandchildren.
