Hillsdale Church will hold an Official Board meeting Monday evening August 13 at 8 o clock. The Hillsdale community is busy with 4-H exhibits at Mills County Fair in Malvern and the church food stand on the fairgrounds. Mr and Mrs T W White visited Mrs Ernest White on Sunday afternoon.
Lois Rowe of Glenwood, formerly Hillsdale, honored at a Tuesday bridal shower hosted by Mrs. Myron Jones and Mrs. Walter Phelps at the Phelps residence. About nineteen ladies attended. gifts were opened for Lois’s upcoming Chicago home as dainty refreshments were served.
Former Hillsdale resident Janice Rae Bourn married Gilbert Allen Stuck July 20 at Sheridan Methodist Church. About 100 guests attended the candlelight ceremony. The bride wore white lace and crystal, with a rhinestone tiara and yellow rose bouquet. reception followed. They honeymooned in Washington and reside in Dallas, Oregon.
Mrs Bloomer entertained former classmates Monday at the Forrest Bloomer home. Attendees included Granville Williams of Red Oak, the Wilbur Wolfe family, Ralph Tackett family with three children from Malvern, Dean Myers of Norwalk California, Walter Carr family with two children, and Wiley Sanders family with two sons. Cookies, coffee and iced tea were served late.
Phyllis Warren of Silver City spent the weekend with her parents C. N. Kelley. Dinner Sunday honored the birthdays of Mr. and Mrs. Robertson and the anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Kelley. William Penny and Halsey Hick of Mound City joined Saturday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Scherer. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Carter and family from Omaha visited the Frank Reinbold family Sunday. Donnie Reinbold accompanied the Carters home for a week.
Mr and Mrs Wayne Hilton and Kathleen called on Mrs BR G Rose in Malvern Saturday night. Mr and Mrs Wayne Rose and Linda of Kansas City were guests of her sister and husband Mr and Mrs Eugene Kelly Wednesday night and Thursday. Candice Reinbold and house guest Patty Sutton of Weeping Water spent a Wednesday with Jeannie Razer in Malvern. The Van Orsdel family received word of a birth in Grand River a daughter to Mr and Mrs Jerry Andrew Jacqueline Kay weighed 8 lb 12 oz. Mrs Van Orsdel went to Grand River to stay with the Andrews for a few days. Dale Sell and song visited Monday with Wayne Keith and daughters. Hilladals Church resumed services after a two week vacation with Ray LeRoy Pullman delivering Christian Confidence. Morning visitors included Mrs Warren Robertson and Phyllis of Silver City.
The Rural Improvement Club met at Hillsdale Church on August 1 with hostess Mra. L. F. Seeger and 17 members, 5 children, and 2 guests. President Mrs. Carl Phelps led the meeting with club song and a brief business session.
Muna YUP Ene eye the Centerette 4-H Club held their Achievement Show at Hilladale Church. Many articles were displayed and judges chose the pieces to be exhibited at the Mills County Fair. Punch and cookies were served as refreshments.

Families from Malvern and nearby towns attended weddings, picnics, and church group meetings, with trips to Lincoln, Council Bluffs, Greenfield, and Diagonal. The Hillsdale WSCS announces an August no host meeting at the church to wrap up activities.
A wide exhibition titled At Your Service opens at the Iowa Power and Light Service and Idea Center in Council Bluffs. The display shows how hundreds of employees deliver electrical and gas service across the Western Division with interactive demos, a kid coloring contest, and a civic involvement clock.
