Death of E C Kayton on Union Pacific train
E G Kayton Mills County pioneer businessman died on a train home from California while enroute near Lexington Nebraska. He had spent three months in the west for health. The death occurred about 1 30 Saturday morning. Funeral held at Malvern Monday afternoon. He was 62 years old.

Big Duroc Sale At Logan Attracts Area Breeders
Clarence, Ransome, Milton and James Swain, George Hilton, George Lloyd and Frank Summers attended Larson's Duroc sale in Logan last Thursday. The average price was $180 per head with three top animals selling nearby. Swains bought a fine bred sow, Hilton purchased a fall and a Spring gift. The top price reached $525, won by Dr. Hearn of Texarkana Arkansas. Dr. Hearn visited the Swains Saturday to view their stock.

Soldier Boys Dinner Delights Malvern Visitors
Malvern welcomed 140 soldiers from Company last Friday, with Captain Dunn and Lieutenants Logan and Haley. Fifty five local cars ferried the guests, Ruth Law helped greet them, and a hearty picnic at the Christian church featured fried chicken, home made cakes, ice cream, and drinks. Colonel Chantry spoke on Civil War memories as the town praised the soldiers for their fitness and bearing.

Lightning injures three in Wabash fence crew
While walking along the Wabash north of town during an electric storm last Thursday morning, three men in a fence gang were struck. Wilbur Lee of Omaha was knocked unconscious after a large iron wrench in his pocket struck him. he recovered consciousness later that afternoon and returned to Omaha the next day.
