The Mills County Genealogical Society met at the Nishna Care Center in Malvern to plan obituaries clipping, library resource expansion, and winter education efforts for county history. A meeting is set for August 25 at 7 30 PM in the Mills County Historical Building in Glenwood, with Montgomery County society invited. contact Teresa Durbin or Barbara Douglas for details. In a separate event, a 70th birthday surprise for John Mott was hosted at his home with guests from Treynor Glenwood Carson Bluffs Coin Mukwonago Emerson and others.
Mr and Mrs John C Murphy of West Branch announce the engagement of their daughter Sara Jean to William R Blackburn Esq son of Mr and Mrs William G Blackburn of Malvern. Sara Jean Murphy of Fort Lee New Jersey works at Bouth and Co Films in New York City producing commercials. William R Blackburn of Fort Lee New Jersey is house counsel for Clinton Bogert Associates an environmental consulting engineering firm. A September 4 wedding is planned.
Monday was Mae Robinsons 75th birthday with friends and relatives visiting. Morning guests included Verna Scott Viola Jackson Virginia Hall Dortha Hauger Gra Smith Mildred Weak Delsey Sands Betty Dunbar Chrystal Hites Cora Irvin Emma Weak Mildred Bingham Bonnie Anderson Donna Ayers Mike Streetenberger Helen Wilcox Nancy Witte Debbie Sands. Afternoon visitors included Don Spelman Red Oak Edna Kruse Glen and John Williams Johnstown Eddie Craig Norman Gradle Whiting Marjorie Williams Strahan and others.
Margaret White reports June circulation at 1244 books, a new high, and 73 children attended the Children's Story Hour. The Malvern Leader notes gifts, awards, and local donations, including Ethel Chantry's $100 yearly bequest for seven years to buy books, Allen Wortman’s $17 donation, and renewed Friends of the Library subscriptions.
Nishna Cottage invites fairgoers to visit the commercial building booth for crafts including a Christmas shopping special tea towels three for one dollar. Exhibits showcase 18 blues five red and two honorable mentions reflecting strong family participation.

Grace Woodlands of Sidney becomes a welcome new resident at Nishna Care Center. Glenwood trip with Nishna Cottage members included Margaret Morgan, while Mary Carlstedt visited Duane Carlstedt's home. Margaret Hood is in Red Oak hospital. Russell Triplett moved to a Red Oak home to be closer to family. Hazel Hoover was out on Sunday. Malvern Leader offers printing services for envelopes and business materials.
