Henderson News Highlights Social and Club Events

Mrs Nelie Fickel attended the Kansas Grand Chapter at Topeka. Her sister Mrs Clarence Feeley, Past Grand Matron, received a 49 year pin and Mrs Fickel pinned it. Card of Thanks from Mrs Howard Allensworth for hospital gifts. Local dinners featured Mr and Mrs Carl Halawell, Mr and Mrs Edwin Keast, and others visiting Glenwood Catholic church. Library Club notes include Pen cil rates fundraiser and Red Cross and Cancer donations. seven members and guest Mrs Paul Edmondson attended.

Banquet Planned by Alumni Association in Omaha

Alumni Association officers met Mrs. Dean Edmonds Tuesday night to appoint committees for the annual banquet set for May 29 in Omaha. Zoa Amick attended the State Cancer meeting in Des Moines Tuesday evening through Thursday representing Mills County. Claude Holt and wife attended church and a basket dinner at the MLDS church in Carson Sunday. A Fellowship Basket dinner was held at the Christian church Sunday to honor new Easter members. Gerald Viner and children visited Don Mauer in Hastings Sunday evening. Merle Cooper of Amarillo, Texas, arrived Wednesday for Mr. Galloway’s funeral and left Saturday. John Rainbow of Malvern attended the Galloway funeral Thursday and visited Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sowers.

Served on Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors. Died April 14 1959 in Red Oak hospital. burial at Macedonia Cemetery. Extensive notes on survivors, attendees, and post funeral activities.

Henderson church notes morning worship at 9 30 with special choir music under Jean Knelgel. Sermon "Where Are the Nine" and Sunday School at 10 30. Youth Fellowship at 1. Woman’s Fellowship Wednesday at 2 22. Chi Rho camps set for July weeks and June 23 to July 4, and July 12 to 18 for High School Youth. Numerous local visits and gatherings reported, including Stenger, Stenger-Californias, and Warren family events with Kristensens.

Church services and events at Hillsdale Methodist Church include a 9 48 a m worship and 10 45 a m Church School with quarterly conference on April 27 at 4 p m presiding by Dist Supt Dr W S Overhulser. Mrs. Frank Plumb moved to Nishna Cottage Rest Home in Malvern last Saturday. Weekend and Sunday visits included Mr. and Mrs. Geisler Tracy Wichita Kans Mr. and Mrs. Van Orsdel and Joyce Van Orsdel Des Moines and Jerry Andrews Grand River. Wayne Hilton and family visited Hugh Fickel in Malvern. Marilyn Johnson Myrna Stile and Lithia Annette Jackson connected with teachers and grandparents. Several small visits and dinners occurred among local families. Percy Rist showed slight improvement at Edmundson Hospital Corners Bluff. Frank Buffington and Mrs Dwight Buffington with Mrs Marty Sawyers and Mrs Gertie Culver visited Lizzie Madden at Tabor Rest Home.
