Automobile party escapes flood on Oregon trunk survey

W F Nelson and W D Williamson of the Oregon Trunk Line survived a cloudburst and mountain torrent while surveying from The Dalles South to Bend. Their car was swept down a hillside, later halted in a rising stream, and hauled to safety by fellow railroad men near Haycreek before reaching Portland.

Prineville Men Bound Over on Church Window Charge

Jack Kitching and George McVey of Prineville are bound over to the grand jury on a charge of shooting through the stained glass windows of the new Methodist church in Prineville. Their ball was fixed at an unspecified amount.

Vicious horse injures boy during country drive

James Cordell and his family faced a serious accident when a vicious horse kicked their nine year old son near Younge last Monday. One foot struck his arm breaking it while the other foot struck his head causing a bruise. Dr Snook set the fracture and dressed the head wounds before the family moved on to Madras.

Old Pioneer Jack May Dies in Prineville

Aged pioneer Jack May about 80 died last Wednesday morning in Prineville. Unable to care for himself he had lived with Mr Benefield south of town and later came on county charge. His son William May of Seio reportedly declined to pay for burial, leaving arrangements to county funds. The May family is said to be well to do.

William S Spiger Dies Near Madras At 79

William S Spiger died Monday September 21 at his home northeast of Madras. He was 79, a native of Olio and had lived in Oregon since 1000. Interment was held Tuesday afternoon with Rev J D Brown leading funeral services at the Baptist church.
