State grants clear title to Deschutes ditch lands

The State Land Board and Deschutes Irrigation & Power Company reached an understanding to remove mortgage liens from reclaimed land improving title for settlers. Governor Chamberlain delayed signing deeds until mortgage holders agreed, ensuring titles are cloud free once final proof is submitted. Wheat Prices Rise to Highest Since Oct Panic

Wheat prices advanced with Portland quotations at 57 cents for club and 80 for bluestem. The gain marks the highest level since the October panic when prices fell to about 80 cents. The Dufur oil company, owning about 000 acres near Dufur, let a contract to veteran driller John Farrell to sink a well. A telegram from Charles M. Yinfield of Crows Landing California received by W M Barrett early this week says Hatfield will be on the ground by May 1 for rain. Farmers near Crows Landing anticipate a bumper crop after a season of partial success and a $1000 offset.
