Taft Sherman Ticket Dominates National Republican Convention

The Republicans nominated Theodore Roosevelt for president and James Sherman for vice president at the Chicago convention. Taft led the roll call with 702 votes, followed by numerous others shaping the final ticket as wild enthusiasm erupted across floor and galleries. James Sherman was nominated as Taft's running mate after a strong push, amid celebratory uproar and a later accident involving a wagon wheel injuring a spectator nearby.

Man Run Down by Heavy Freight Wagon Near Madras

A man named Sondquist was run down by a heavily loaded freight wagon near Madras on Thursday afternoon. He stepped onto the front wheel as the horses started, the wagon wheel passed over his arm and leg, inflicting severe injuries. He managed to extricate himself with cautious assistance as the wagon halted.

Shaniko hosted the second public wool sale yielding record Oregon prices from 10 to 154 cents per pound. Top offer went to Jacob Easter for 35 000 pounds at 19.0 cents, with J Wagner selling 45 000 pounds at about 16 cents and Reeder & Fisher at 15 0 8 for 55 000 pounds. Crook county wool dominated with Prineville and Morrow & Keenan also selling large lots. one 55 000-pound lot from Black Bitte Land & Livestock Co. failed at 1024 cents.

Indians Win Ball Game at Agency Field

The Indians defeated the Madras team eight to none in a friendly Friday afternoon matchup near the Agency.
