City abandons well after air crevice dries water supply
Madras officials report a drill hit an air crevice at 90 feet causing all water to drain from the well. The city will sink another on the townsite while cementing the bottom of the abandoned well which would have supplied about 500 gallons daily. Construction to date cost about $1200 and the city will auction the site.

Indian Police Chief Makes Alcohol Arrest on Reservation
Perry Ruckup, chief of the Indian Police on the Warmspring Reservation, arrived Tuesday evening with Frank Charlie who faced charges for bringing a quart of whiskey to the reservation. Charlie was arrested by Johnnie Quinn and accompanied by Tommy Payette to Madras.

Thomas Milar of Opal City was killed by Deputy Sheriff C W Williams near O’Neil while attempting to flee after arrest for burglarizing a cook car and stealing three hams. He was shot as he attempted to run and died about an hour later. an inquest exonerated the deputy.

Riddle man leases 600 acres for wheat farming
