Dust Storm Strikes Madras and Western Coast Vessels Endure

The Christmas day windstorm lashed Madras and western regions with telegraph and telephone outages and high seas. Bend High School Earns County Approval for Union District

In February 1906 the Bend district organized a four year high school and, after review, the county boundary board declared Bend's school efficient, potentially surpassing Prineville. The district plans a union high school district centered at Madras, absorbing territory south of Crooked River and west of Powell Butte to fund a levy around 1 mill. This move aims to cut travel costs and provide a central, efficient high school.
