Independent Oregon Trunk Line Promises Immediate Deschutes Rail

L H Gray of Seattle outlines plans for a 126 mile independent Oregon Trunk Line from The Dalles to Bend. The route would connect with the Oregon Railroad & Navigation and North Bank lines, cost 3.0 to 3.5 million dollars, with no grade above one percent. Three financiers have pledged 650000 toward the project.

Road train purchased for Prineville Shaniko run

Leo LaFollette of Prineville announced in town that equipment for a new road train freight service to Shaniko has been bought and will ship immediately. J W Collins, another promoter, notes California trials support traction engine operation on the route. The outfit includes a 70 horsepower engine and six ten ton wagons. Buckley arrived with pump and casing for Redmond’s first deep well, 450 feet deep, to be powered by a gasoline engine.
