Mrs Jennie C Weikel wife of Phillip A Weikel died at her home in Louisville yesterday afternoon aged 66 Funeral services will be at her residence Thursday 10 am Interment in Fairview Cemetery New Albany Mrs Weikel formerly lived in Madison and was sister of the late William Crawford Roy McCauley left for Louisville to attend the funeral. Work on the former Peoples Trust Company building was awarded to J W Cornett for 4475 dollars with attorney John Metaresor bidding for Cornett The Oak and poplar timber on the Samuel Bo Gabel firm land in Smyrna township now owned by George J Gabel Charles Gillahei and Mrs H Po McKheaund was sold yesterday to W T Thompson Veneer Co of Edinburg valued around 30000 dollars

Deserter Returned to Camp Grover by Sheriff
Deserter Chasteen from Camp Taylor was brought back to camp today by Sheriff Monroe. He was transported from Scottsburg to Louisville after a return trip in the sheriff’s vehicle. The government offers a $50 reward for deserters, and Monroe will claim the fee. In Seymour Indiana on May 7 Harry Gibson age 18 of Madison and Tracy Hart age 19 of Boston were captured six miles west after a bank robbery plot. Sheriff McCord and deputies followed tips from Wartes Foster.
