Civil War dispatch from Richmond July 1862 details skirmish at Mechanicsville and Stubs command
In a Richmond dated July 5 1862 from Mr C Grannis, Captain Stubbs leads the company through a hard fought action near a large battery by the Chickahominy. Lieut Col Zachery is wounded shifting command to Stubbs as the unit suffers several minor wounds but reports no KIA. The message also relays news from Texas and Vicksburg with Union raids, prisoner seizures, and cotton burning along the Mississippi.
