The McDonough County Orphanage plans to give away a National touring car next Saturday at 2 pm. Tickets costing $1 grant entry to a drawing for the car, donated by Mr Keefer, with funds raised to meet a target sum. Tickets remain at local business houses as of yesterday.

A sightseeing party from Galesburg including two men a woman and a baby so far uninjured after their car left a road near a Bushnell bridge and fell into a drainage ditch. The vehicle required repairs in Bushnell and the group planned to attend church services next Sunday.
W. J. Shake and family along with two young ladies on an extensive auto trip to Keokuk and other Missouri towns enjoyed the day until rain near Augusta forced them to abandon their car. They rode the train to Augusta and Mr. Shake returned yesterday to reclaim the vehicle.
A special train from Peoria will arrive in Huntsville on October 7 at 12 30 pm with 200 Shriners in oriental costumes along with a 50 piece oriental band. The event features drills by a top Shriner team, a camel, and a large parade. locals are urged to attend at noon on the north side of the square for a free program and lunch to be provided by McDonough county members.
The Illinois Public Utilities commission ordered coal to receive top priority over all freight except live stock and perishables. Open cars must be used for coal, and railroads are to seize coal left in yards 24 hours without claim. Order is effective immediately across all Illinois railroads.
Lewistown September 27 John Bartholomew of Astoria was arrested Saturday night and jailed charged with stealing $600 worth of clothing from William Condit's store at Astoria Friday night. Bloodhounds from Monmouth traced from the rear of the store to Bartholomew's home where the clothing was found in his possession.
The fire department was called to the corner of Pearl and Murray streets this morning after an overheated stove caused the stove pipe to red hot and the flue to burn out. There was little damage beyond soot and smoke.

At a meeting of the Republican Central Committee held yesterday at the courthouse an organization for Macomb city during the present campaign was effected and it was voted to establish headquarters in the Vail building on the square. Officers elected were E. D. Grigsby president John Blevins vice president R. W. Purdon secretary and the latter will be in active charge of the headquarters. A young voters club will be organized with Hf A Blount James Zirkle Giles Slusher A J Leander in charge. Father Kidnapped Son Habeas Corpus proceedings were necessary in taking Daniel R the five year old son of Samuel A. Moser from his father at Astoria a few days ago. The child has been returned to his mother in Pennsylvania. Ernest Gruel of Chicago will arrive here Saturday to spend his annual vacation with home folks. His brother Frank manager of the local A P store now on vacation had contemplated going to Chicago to visit the brother but upon learning that the latter is to come here he will remain to entertain him.
Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Seivard and Mrs. Francis Wright plan to leave later this week for Los Angeles where Mrs. Wright will reside. She is disposing of her household goods this week. They accompanied Willis P. Wrights body back to Bardolph for burial and have been visiting relatives and friends here for several weeks.
Robert Rodgers, who was visiting at the home of his parents Rev. and Mrs. W. T. Rodgers, left this morning for Annapolis Maryland to begin naval training. Sheldon Zern, who visited with his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Zern, returned earlier for football practice.
Frank Logan reports the sale of two homes. The Nancy Pollock house at 507 South Lafayette Street fetched 5000 dollars. The Claude Butcher or James McGann property at 631 South McArthur Street also sold for 5000 dollars.
Mr and Mrs Robert McDonald depart this morning for Chicago for a visit then plan to travel to France and Switzerland for an indefinite stay around the twentieth of next month. Mrs McDonald's relatives reside in France.
Leander, deputy internal revenue collector for this district, will be in Macomb the remaining days of the week. Those seeking information on income taxes may see Mr Leander in the post office building.
Farmers of the Blandinsville vicinity will meet on October 1 to discuss organizing a livestock shipping association, following similar actions in other McDonough county towns.
Ernest Warden of Angasta was acquitted by the jury on a forged check charge at Kirk clothing store. He remains held on a related case involving a forgery at Stinson drug store and faces a separate charge in Tanscock County for stealing a pan overcoat. A gun found in his possession was identified by the owner. The jury also convicted Louis Jackson for assault with a pitchfork on his son Ernest, imposing a $10 fine plus costs. The court adjourned to tomorrow morning with jurors listed and others excused until November 8.
Tulvis Buerkin of Buerkin & Buerkin of Quincy urged removal of an ad for laborers from the By Stander classified columns. He stated he had fifteen men available that morning and pressed for action to fill the need.
