Bad crossing causes near-fatal collision near Bushnell
Tall corn at a crossing west of Bushnell obscured the view as a westbound passenger train hit a Ford sedan carrying Davis Yeast and his brother-in-law Fred Smith shortly after 3 00 pm. The car sustained heavy front-end damage but all occupants escaped injury. repairs are under way at Yeast’s Good Hope garage. The crossing is described as dangerous and was previously the site of a fatal hit-and-run involving Pete Bosier.

Moonough People Bonded In Auto Theft Case
All but one of the Moonough group charged in the La Harpe area car theft ring have been released on bonds from Carthage jail. Harley Todd remains jailed as Mrs Todd, Jess Steepleton, and Dr Geo Aldrich posted 2000 bonds each through their respective relatives. The ring allegedly stole a Ford from Arthur Shirley and a Buick from Mr Bradfield. The sheriff retrieved the Buick from Blandinsville and suspects it remains a stolen vehicle. The Ford site near Macomb was abandoned due to mechanical failure and claimed by its owner.

Bushnell Youths Cleared in Delinquency Case
The cases against Misses Ethel and Anna Yocum and Kenneth Bell, all of Bushnell and under 18, were dismissed in county court before Judge Charles I Imes after the mother Mrs Sarah Yocum and State's Attorney Hainline talked with the girls. The trio may be given another chance and were released from jail. Bell reportedly spent much of the time with the girls during their absence in Vermont and Centralia. Also noted, Miss Nita Cozad and Miss Lacey Huston left for Galesburg to attend Brown's Business College.
