Police report a burglary at the Tenpt store around 2:00 AM. Entry was forced through a window. clothing and furnishings missing while suspects fled, leaving a broken sash and traces of a hurried escape. Local residents noted bystanders and later searches found no suspects or items. Titles mention nearby residents and a naval academy visit.
A Chevrolet touring car owned by Wm. Mills of 128 West Calhoun Street burned about 2 am with the garage spared by firefighters who moved the car into the street. Origin of the blaze unknown. Cushions upholstery and other combustibles destroyed. This marks the second auto fire in the first word of the week after Claude Butcher’s Ford on West Adams Street.
A Macomb physician urged that the city drain the waterworks park and install sewerage to prevent contamination of the water supply. He warned that overnight car camps would dump refuse into the creek, risking epidemics unless proper sanitation is enforced and effluents drained below the dam. He asked that his name be withheld for now.

George Dan ton of Springfield drowned at Canton Point between Quiver Beach and the Chautauqua grounds at 3 PM Sunday. Four past years saw fatalities at that spot with water depths from 3 to 12 feet. Parents also received word of an Oklahoma oil strike on their property as news arrived. Joseph Shake, nine, injured a week earlier by a 12 foot fall at Hanaii Lumber Yard, remains seriously ill though showing faint signs of improvement under care of Drs. Davis and Holmes.
Mrs Theo Foley and her daughter Vera traveled through Denver Cripple Creek Manitou Pikes Peak Colorado Springs Pueblo and returned via Kansas City to fetch her mother Mrs R E Clarke who will stay with them this winter.
Macomb aims to repeat their earlier close win over Rushville’s Greys at Rushville. Swartz was slated for the mound but will serve as reliever. Smith, a top local pitcher, will start for Macomb with other externally sourced players hinted but unannounced.
