Macomb Building Corporation Forms in Macomb

Incorporation papers filed today at Springfield establish the Macomb Building Corporation with a capital of 80000 dollars. Ten incorporators include P E Elting, C E Martin, and H A Blount who lead a group that bought the Twyman building at Lafayette and Carroll streets in August 1919. Plans call for 10000 dollars in improvements such as new sidewalks and a modern heating plant to enhance the property. Officers are P E Elting as president, C E Martin as secretary, and H A Blount as treasurer.

Sheriff’s Business Improves In McDonough County

A McDonough County sheriff’s pursuit of Willis Winrow continues as East St. Louis authorities hold the suspect on a burglary charge. Winrow, formerly housed at 706 East Washington Street with a roommate named Robinson, is to be extradited after a grand jury true bill prompted the manhunt. In Dayton, Governor Cox accuses the Saturday Evening Post of unfair partisanship, alleging it uses Gorilla tactics to sway voters.

R G Rockwell of Bushnell underwent hernia surgery this morning. Elizabeth and Esther, children. T J Rowland of Rushville had surgery this morning. John Marlow of Camden, who had surgery a few days ago, is recovering well. Mrs Albert Markwood of Rushville is seriously ill but steady. Mrs Dallas Tuttle of Good Hope is recovering well after surgery weeks ago. Mrs Grant Dohner of Adair is under treatment and doing well. Mrs Delbert Laughley of Rushville returned home yesterday after several weeks post operation.

Orphanage Receives Over Two Thousand In Donations

The McDonough County Orphanage cleared 1273.08 after settling all bills. Miss Westfall the matron thanks the public for generous offerings aiding clothing food and warmth for the children this winter. Combined with a gift from Mr Keefer the year’s contributions exceed two thousand three hundred dollars.

McDonough County residents gave over 416000 last year to Near East Relief and seek to surpass that with this year’s drive. A committee led by A Thompson and including Eler T Walker E G Leander Mrs Frank Russell and Mrs C B Townley aims to support Armenian Persian and Syrian children facing famine disease and persecution. Monthly costs for care range from 5 to 15 dollars enabling meals clothing shelter and education for orphans. Estimates place 250000 children in need in the Near East.
