Richard Funcheon a retired cigar maker of Bushnell was found dead in bed at 835 Jackson Street by his brothers Pete and Will after not feeling well upon retiring Monday night. Coroner Russler attributed the death to heart failure from an acute indigestion attack. Funcheon had suffered indigestion for years. Surviving is sister Mel Wim Bailey. funeral arrangements not yet made.

Homer D. Smith, 51, of 804 Morgan Street Keokuk Iowa died from asphyxiation after an unlit gas heater flooded bathroom with fumes. His wife found him about 5 AM and aid arrived too late. He was born December 25 1870 in Hancock County Illinois and married Anna Peterson April 7 1887. His death leaves five brothers and three sisters.

Nelson will succeed John A Peters in the federal district seat. Correction notes Orville Vetanldon was misnamed Roville Rutledge for town clerk in a Democratic caucus report.

State’s Attorney Crowe and Judge Scanlan blamed crook ed lawyers and corrupt bench members for crime conditions as Chief Fitzmorris described a local criminal organization with its own judges and rulers.

She says she will speak at the next trial to clear Belton's memory and his parents. A juror notes two holdouts for acquittal had refused to discuss the case, an point under investigation.
