Mullen was arrested in Joliet in 1919 while Bushnell escaped custody in Joliet on the same date. The brief item notes incidents involving two individuals during that year.
An escaped inmate linked to Joliet and Nebraska State Prison figures in a sensational escape plot. Sheriff Sapp recaptured the man after he clung to a train and tried to flee at forty miles per hour, thwarted during a washroom break and pursued to the local jail.

Willis Snyder ten year old son of Mr and Mrs M H Snyder of Adair sustained a four inch scalp wound after a pony kicked him as he fell from the saddle. The skull was not fractured and he is reported doing nicely at Holmes hospital. The accident occurred when the saddle girt was loose and the saddle slipped, knocking him to the ground. He has no memory of remounting the pony.
No arrests have been made in the Adair robbery case and no new clues have been uncovered. Authorities believe the Wednesday night thieves may be the same as those who burglarized the Oldfield and Gilliland stores in recent weeks. The suspects appear to be amateurs based on the methods used.
Associated Press reports indicate near unanimous strike sentiment among packing house workers in the Midwest. Chicago votes show 13,297 favoring a strike out of 14,819 counted. Omaha tallies 5,200 of 6,841 in favor. Kansas City ballots show only two against a strike.
A bandit armed with two pistols was killed after a long fight with more than fifty policemen on a Chicago street. Several officers were wounded and one detective, Mix, was left in critical condition as reinforcements joined the exchange of fire.
Eugene V. Debs has halted the Socialists plan to picket the White House to win his release. Debs’ attorney announced a nationwide campaign to secure his release will be undertaken.
Mrs Rebecca Maguire returns from an extended visit with relatives and friends in Pennsylvania and other eastern points. She arrived home last night, ending a family journey that included travel through several eastern communities.
The coroner's inquest verdict states Mrs. Mary Lenora Andrews Kepler died of suffocation caused by convulsions from kidney and bladder infection. The 26 year old widow, mother of one, is survived by her husband Jesse Kepler and daughter Margaret Lorraine. Funeral is set for Saturday at Jackson Street Presbyterian Church.
Macomb High School defeated Springfield High School 38 to 19 in Urbana Illinois advancing in the state high school basketball tournament. Sala starred with ten field baskets while Earl Murphy and Durr added key scores as Macomb ran ahead early and rested starters at halftime.
Arthur Baker, chief scout master of Chicago, will speak to the Boy Scouts of Macomb and their fathers at First Presbyterian church Friday night, March 25. He is a renowned scout leader and prizewinner who led his troupe to the International Scout meet victory in London. All Boy Scouts and fathers are invited.

Indianapolis March 18 Any attempt to reduce wages of coal miners in the United States will be resisted by the miners union John L Lewis president of the United Mine Workers declared today in announcing such a policy had been approved by the unions executive board in session The union miners have contracts at present wage scales that continue until March 31 1922.
