The American League head adds to the Babe Ruth suspension for temper, ruling the star cannot play while the dispute remains. Commissioner Ban Johnson defends the action as necessary to curb unruly conduct.
The American League president extended Babe Ruths suspension to five days without pay after a dispute with umpire Tom Dineen. Ruth will miss pay totaling 1500 dollars and cannot travel until Sunday, amid profane exchanges and renewed discipline following incidents in Cleveland and New York.
The American Federation of Labor proposes four amendments to state constitutions and seeks repeal of a woman anti trust law. The policy committee urged reforms to overcome what it calls court decisions adverse to labor. One proposal calls for Congressional veto over Supreme Court rulings.
Fifty thousand workers in the men’s clothing industry in the New York metropolitan area walked out to pressure manufacturers to use registered contractors. The action was supported by the chairman of the New York joint board of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers.
The New York Federal Reserve Bank cut its rediscount rate from five per cent to four per cent. The move, the first since December 1921, reflects easing monetary policy. The report mentions Mr and Mrs Lee Herndon of Min, noting the birth of an 8 Witt sie at Bond hospital after a Caesarean operation.
County work under Highway Commissioner John Decker advances on the east end of Jackson Street pavement and nearby bad stretches. Boston has 100 miles, Washington shows high quality trails, and eight top cities host riding schools. Horse shows grow nationwide with Devon near Philadelphia drawing 20,000 spectators.
Springfield, June 21. The Illinois Department of Public Health plans legal action against local registrars who fail to send birth and death certificates to the state within ten days after month end. About 800 of 1,425 registrars are delinquent, with some delays of six to eight months. Nine indictments and one arrest were recorded this month as part of a drive to improve birth registration for eligibility in the national birth registration area.
The Macomb Lodge announces the Elks Charity Circus at Holmes Park scheduled for July 13 is cancelled following a ruling from Grand Exalted Ruler W. W. Mountain. Ticket sales must stop and all money refunded. organizers plan refunds as disappointment grows among supporters.
The bridge event at the country club will start at 2 30 PM Thursday with a prompt ladies’ arrival. If weather is poor, the party moves to Friday. Notify Mrs Frank Johnson for conveyance and meet at the park’s southwest corner at 12 15 PM.
Norville Clark, accused with Ervin Pestle and Chas McDonald, faces burglary and larceny charges over a theft of chickens from Roma Clark near Plymouth. Clark is in jail on illegal fishing charges and will stand trial after the current case concludes.
Carrick’s seven piece orchestra of Rushville will furnish music for the jitney dance at Holmes Park Thursday evening. The large crowd at last night’s dance enjoyed their previous appearances and an unusually good turnout is expected. Also noted is a residence change for Thomas F Pennington from Soldiers’ Home Quincy to Cottage 12.
Mr and Mrs Chas Harris of Bardolph are the parents of an eight pound boy born last night.
A neighbor warned of danger as timber fell during a blaze that lit the night sky and could be seen for miles. The five story residence had been remodeled about two years earlier.

Kellogg, a Harding stalwart, was renominated while facing Mrs. Olesen and Farmer Labor opponent Shipsted. Kellogg stayed in Washington, leaving the race to the Republican organization.
A telegraphic dispatch from Copenhagen cites reports of terrible pogroms in the Ukraine. The entire Jewish population of four towns is said to have been massacred, with claims echoed by news outlets.
