Springfield June 17 The Governor to probe charges by Representative McNeil that Julius Johnson Secretary of the Public Utilities Commission used irregular methods in lobbying for the administration's program. He vows removal of any state employee found guilty of wrongdoing.
New York June 16 an investigation began to learn how and why more than 500 modern machine guns with spare parts were placed on the steamer East Side at her pier before sailing to an Irish port. Officials from the customs service justice department and the US Shipping Board pursued clues to the intended recipients and shipper. The arms were seized yesterday by customs officials with Ireland as the probable destination.
The Spanish war veterans at their annual encampment in Dixon condemn the Wheeler bill as dishonorable and un-American and pledge to rally all veterans to denounce it. They instructed their commander to protest to all state legislators.
A large mare owned by L. W. Camp, driven to a sprinkling wagon, bucked and fell at Jack Blacksmith shop while being shod. The horse could not rise, tied for safety, and died about fifteen minutes later likely from internal injuries.
Harold Price 12 of Astoria is taken to Holmes hospital for a skin graft to a large burn on his leg from a gasoline can explosion a year ago. The graft will use skin from his own body.
