An abandoned Ford car was found this morning near West of Here by B. Cale, located in the south area. Police are issuing warnings and seeking owner identification.
A Ford car stolen at night and driven at high speed was found abandoned near Col area. Roy Staines of Quebec reported the vehicle and a youth with a gun commanded its occupants to exit. The car showed oil and gasoline but minimal damage. a nearby witness described a threatening voice and the thief’s escape toward the south, with authorities pursuing the case.
A clipped broadcast style summary notes claims of county level fault for a collapse event. The report names several officers as responsible with references to a general Barrett and a list of 250 officials expected later that afternoon.
A traveling gypsy troupe plied through Burlington Iowa on Monday evening en route from New York to San Francisco. The group sold fortunes while bedding rode with them as fifty people traveled in seven cars.

Also passed the Holiday road refund bill and Buck joint resolution for auto license plate trial at Pontiac reform school with 30 000 for equipment. House adjourned until tomorrow to advance bills.
Warsaw June 1 no arrests have been made in the attempt to strangle Miss Blanche Wemhoener at her home last Saturday night. Bloodhounds followed the trail about three miles from the Wemhoener residence before losing it near a likely pickup point. The assailant entered the home, was seen in the girl’s room, and fled. a horse is suspected to be waiting at the escape point.
A major late afternoon storm swept central county with wind rain hail and thunder. In Bardolph a team owned by John Smith was killed by lightning and Bert Brown was knocked unconscious but recovered. widespread tree damage and crop laydown reported across Adair Good Hope and New Philadelphia while Macomb City saw only light rain.
The Anla J Hughes jewelry store on South Main was robbed about 2:00 AM, with $800 to $900 worth of rings watches and small items taken from display. A rag wrapped stone was used to break the plate glass. Police link a stolen Willys Knight car and a Ford theft in the same period as possible related crimes.
Fifty delegates of the Illinois division T P A will depart Saturday evening for the National Convention in Louisville Kentucky. The event runs June 13 to 18 with a special Peoria train joining the Chicago group in Champaign per state press chairman G F Cogshall.
