The open primary election set for tomorrow Tuesday the 28th will decide candidates for assorted city offices. Voters in the Second Ward alderman and the assessor race may see two candidates while others feature a single petitioned candidate. Polls open at 6:00 p m and close at 5:00 p m with official ballots listing the nominees and party affiliations.
In a Canton led game at a Peoria tourney, Canton edged Farmington 27 to 19 after a 38 point third quarter. Farmington failed to match Canton’s early surge as Canton advanced to semi finals alongside Ma-Phish School with 29 to 19 final.

Augusta Illinois February 27 Harley Corrine of Littleton returned from Kansas where he identified a body believed to be his brother Charles Corrine who disappeared 18 years earlier. Charles rode away on his bicycle from his Camden area home and was never heard from again by his wife or neighbors.
Senator Capper of Kansas was elected unanimously chairman of the unofficial Senate agricultural bloc, succeeding Senator Kenyon of Iowa. Nominated by Senator McNary of Oregon, Capper won by acclamation as the bloc met briefly with no policy discussion.
Deputy Treasurer J. Frank Douglas notes lagging annual Illinois taxes in McDonough County due to cash shortages. A single day record of about 8500 dollars was reported last Saturday. Advertising costs rise May 1 and June 1, with tax sales set for the second Monday in June. Delinquent payments may be settled the day before sales by including costs.
The Illinois Supreme Court ordered Mrs. Jennie Barrimore of Chicago back to quarantine, rejecting her habeas corpus challenge to typhoid quarantine authority.
