Accidental E Trigger Kills Man at Prairie City Farm
In Prairie City an accidental discharge from a 12 gauge shotgun killed 51 year old James Orwig when he pulled the gun through a fence. Joel Meill and coworker Camp witnessed the event as Orwig guided the firearm toward a gate to pull it through. An inquest found the shot occurred by misdirected trigger pull while the weapon rested near a fence, not from intent. The victim’s family includes wife Minnie, sons, and siblings. Funeral plans were announced.

Four Hunters Missing After Boat Found Overturned
Ira Howell of the Alligator learned from a Beards town friend that four Beardstown men are believed drowned yesterday in Clear Lake when their hunting boat overturned. The men went out hunting yesterday morning. they failed to return last night and a search found the overturned craft with no trace of the hunters. One crew member was Lee Stoker, known for playing third base for Rushville and captaining its team.
