Sixteen Month Old Babe Scalded In Washing Machine Accident
The sixteen month old child of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Utley, 703 East Jefferson street, is in serious condition at Holmes hospital after hot water from a washing machine drenched her lower body. The mother pulled the plug and the water burned the abdomen hips legs and an arm. Dr. R F Marrs attended and she rested fairly comfortably at noon.

Woman Found Unconscious With Shotgun At Side
Mrs. Agnes Travis of Rushville was found unconscious on the floor of her home with a shotgun by her side after a discharge tore off her left thumb. She was brought to Phelps Hospital Saturday evening. doctors Munson and Flemming dressed the wound.

American hurdlers sweep finals in Olympic 400m hurdles

Plane crash injures former Bushnell resident
Lieut Roy McElwain, pilot for Caldwell Bros. of Galesburg, and passenger Mr. Stewart were injured when a landing side wind forced their plane into trees at Greenfield Illinois. McElwain suffered both bones broken in his left leg and was cast after surgery. Stewart broke his left leg similarly. Both were hospitalized. McElvain’s family from Moline supported him.

Two Cars Collide With No Injuries Near Seiota
A collision at the four corners south of Seiota between a Dodge owned by John Littleson of Scotland township and a Ford carrying two Blandinsville youths caused extensive damage but no injuries. Passengers included W. F. Senn family and Littleson in the Dodge and Willard Banks with another Banks in the Ford. Misjudged directions sparked the crash. the Dodge needs a new wheel fenders and steering arm while the Ford requires a radiator and wishbone replacement.

Tragic Crash Kills Mrs Mealiff and Four Children Near Mendon
Mrs Gordon Mealiff and her four children aged 7, 5, 3, and 1 died when the car they rode in with Mr Mealiff was struck at a railroad crossing by Burlington’s Quincy to Chicago train. Mr Mealiff survived with serious injuries and was taken to St Francis hospital in Macomb. Eyewitness Robert Schott described the impact and the car being hurled 60 feet.
