Beards town endures rising Illinois River as streets flood at three inches per hour. Citys sewer system and many buildings suffer rapid damage with sand foundations sinking and structures slipping away. Refugees remain as shops and hotels operate amid chaos and a ruined civic infrastructure.
Local stores along Lafayette Street showcase themed Easter windows. Thrasher Hardware presents Flem lant rabbits with a mother hen and chicks. The displays aim to draw customers with colorful, live styled figures and well crafted advertising.
Mrs Abred Knowles and Mr Knowles announce the birth of a daughter, Margaret Louise, on April 10. Grandmothers Elizabeth Eyre of this city and other relatives in Galesburg Good Hope and Oregon share the family joy.
Tri State Rotary club gathering in Quincy unfolds from depot joy ride to noon luncheon at Hotel Newcomb and Empire theatre talks. Keokuk Saxophone Sextette from Macomb to perform cycle includes other hosts Kirksville Fort Madison Hannibal with district governors and notable Rotary officials attending.
Attendees are invited to the Empire in the afternoon to hear theInternational officers speak, with the event focusing on updates and organizational talks.

Fifteen female students served the banquet as speeches by President Morgan Athletic Director Habermann and captains Russell Wright Miller Bolen and Ingalls highlighted the three hour event. Gold basketball awards were not yet delivered but expected at chapel next week.
Miscalculation in javelin throw at the new Community High school injured Francis Cady in the left thigh. The incision was painful but not serious, delaying him from school a week or ten days. He was sent to his parents' home in Camden.
Enjoyed by attendees the Warr orchestra from Burlington gave thorough satisfaction at Thursday night’s dance at Jolly hall. The crowd was well pleased and has booked another dance for Friday night April 21 with Campbell's orchestra also playing tonight.

Beards town office appeals for electric and gas heaters to aid residents with basements flooded and furnaces out. A lineman’s furniture is stored in Beardstown, and water threatens his home as pumps, dikes, and sandbags struggle to keep the flood out.
Astoria reports a dike breach in the Kelly Lake drainage district flooded about 2000 acres at 10:30. Families evacuated as over 20000 acres were at risk along the Liverpool canal. 50 to 100 workers battled weak spots overnight with a steam dredge and hundreds more along the levee.

Galesburg NL April 14 1922 Morean Stoneking case filed by Edward Morean father alleging Miss Moreau age 15 and George Stoneking age 19 at marriage on March 8 1922. Complaint notes license then required age for party to be 21 and 19 respectively. Attorney R D Robinson represents complainant in circuit clerk office.
Ed Sherbine of Winds Bankers Life Insurance recovered a $1,000 check for a policy tied to the late Good Tope and earlier paid another $1,000 to Sam McKiamy on a policy linked to Mrs McKamy. Both deaths occurred within the week.
