Disrupted operations hit mining and rail transport as a large striking workforce presses demands. Workers seek negotiations with coal operators while government probes the industry and suggests possible talks to avert further losses.
The obituary notes the death of a former Industry resident aged 41 after a years long illness. She was born July 2, 1880, daughter of William and King, and left two children Harold and a daughter. She was preceded in death by an aunt Mrs. Ann of South McArthur. Funeral services planned for Tuesday morning at the M E Church in Industry.
Voters will decide six municipal offices and a city court issue on a special ballot. Both Democratic and Republican parties field complete slates with close competition anticipated. Abolishing the city court requires a two thirds majority. partial votes count toward the court decision if the voter also selects city officers.
Mrs Sallie Tipton returns home from the west where she spent the winter. She left Macomb married in Washington and her husband G F Wilson will arrive soon, delayed by business.

Swango and Keys sent a carload of cattle to Chicago this morning, marking a significant livestock shipment from the area. The drivers reported smooth transit and no incidents during the run.

Prime Minister Lloyd George appeared in the House of Commons to seek support for the government’s Cannes Genoa conference policy. He announced a resolution approving the Supreme Council’s Cannes basis for Genoa and urged backing to further the conference goals and delegation makeup.
Adjustment Day in probate court heard final reports in estates of Albert Brown John Haines Lucinda Heller Elizabeth Kelly and Chas Phillips. Other estates include John Allen Henry Brien Mary Elwell Alexander Flack Win Orwiz and John G. Vance.
W C Miner garage receives lath in preparation for stucco to align with a residence that was erected last fall. Campaign activity noted as Morris UU Johnson of Bowen, Democratic legislature candidate, visited Macomb to wrap up affairs with friends on Tate Street.
Adolphus Sandgren a Swedish shoemaker employed in Macomb repeatedly pounded on doors and intoxicated himself leading to police calls. He was detained in the city jail, fined, and released promising to leave town. Authorities say the incident underscores disturbances caused by his repeated drinking episodes over the winter.
