Manitoba mine resources ltd opens with $500000 public stake
Manitoba's newly formed publicly owned mineral exploration company will start prospecting this year with $500000 working capital supplied by province taxpayers. A three member board led by Albert A. Koffman will guide operations focused on exploration, with a staff of about ten by year end. Resources Minister Sidney Green warns there are no quick returns and stresses long term gains for Manitobans from mining. The government cites private ventures while aiming to ensure greater public benefit from mineral resources.
