Mild criticism at Brandon hearing on new provincial constituencies
At a Manitoba electoral boundaries commission hearing in Brandon, criticism arose over proposed Brandon rooted constituencies. Whitehead and Cornwallis argued for one constituency combining their areas with part of Brandon East or West. MLAs Lissaman and McKellar supported the brief, while the commission noted 32 000 Brandon residents exceed one seat but fall short of two. Chamber of Commerce urged even split to include downtown. Some urged moving Whitewater back to Turtle Mountain. Public hearings test reaction to redistribution details.
