Katrime bonspiel concludes amid weather delay wins multiple events
Doug Noble and team capture First Event trophies and coffee mugs at Katrime’s annual bonspiel which started February 21 with 33 rinks. Lawrence Olson oversaw the event as stormy weather stretched play to March 1. Additional wins include Second Event lamps by Tom Freeborn and partners, Third Event flood lights, Fourth Event Parker desk set, and several Merchants, Farmers and pool elevator prizes awarded to top quartets from MacGregor, Club Rink, Westbourne and Austin clubs.

Receives Degree In Accounting At Mani toba Convocation
Douglas Robert Sterling son of Mr and Mrs Pat Stirling received his degree in accounting at the convocation ceremony held at the University of Manitoba on January 30 1971. He began schooling at MacAuley MacGregor then completed his studies in Kenville and Swan River. He studied at Success Business College and later joined a five year accounting program at the University of Manitoba. He is employed as assistant executive director for the metro branch of BACM in Winnipeg.

The MacGregor Midgets lost 6-8 to Austin in the first leg of a two game total point playoff. Scorers for MacGregor were Phil Davey Brent Tomehuk and Keith Nichol. The March 5 rematch in Austin saw MacGregor win 6-4, making the series total 10-9 for Austin. Bryce Frank Brent Tomehuk Gordon Lye and Davey contributed for MacGregor.

Rural North Norfolk to Focus on Drainage Maintenance
North Norfolk municipal council met on March 2 with all members present. The 1971 drainage program will only cover maintenance due to lack of funds, while Beaver drain right of way will be purchased this year. Ward boundaries and local services were discussed, along with veterinary clinics and Austin committee expenses. The meeting featured a World Congress on Evangelism report by Mrs. Ivan Day of Dand Man who noted 25 percent of delegates were under 30 and discussed ecumenical gospel outreach. The group endorsed support for Prairie Christian Training Centre at Qu Appelle and the eastern Brazil project for 1971. Attendance 107.

Austin chamber sponsors defensive driving course March 15 16 22 23 at the college. MacGregor and District Minor Hockey Association hosts the annual sportsman's dinner on Friday April 2.
